Is NOS (nitrous oxide) flammable?

Is NOS (nitrous oxide) flammable?

No, nitrous oxide is not flammable, in the state that it is used in automotive applications. In fact, due to it’s very low boiling point and the pressure it’s contained under it’s actually more likely to put out a small fire (see our videos section). Nitrous oxide is simply an oxidiser, which provides extra oxygen that allows more fuel to be burned, but even this oxygen isn’t available until the nitrous has been broken down into its two elements (oxygen and nitrogen), which requires a temperature of 565 degrees F.
